Trepidation

Some trepidation has held back this forecast, the first since the December 24 Bright Stars, Earth Rising & Shining Planets.

That entry celebrated the heavens with images of winter's bright stars, the anniversary of the Apollo 8 earth-rising photo and the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction ushering in a new twenty year era.  These celestial sights also offered the broad perspective of how insignificant we on earth are compared with the greater realities of the cosmos.  There's some comfort in that.  On the other hand, that year-end 2020 entry did not offer predictions on upcoming trends and events -- notably fundamentals about society of the virus and the U.S. presidential succession.

Those topics had uncertain futures then and still do.  Thus, this writer felt blocked, looking in vain at Vedic charts and news reports to integrate information yielding at least probable paths ahead that weren't overly disturbing.

And still, the virus rages more strongly, supercharged now with the virus mutation having crossed the Atlantic to the U.S.  Too, although the election is over, Trump continuing to hold he won the election, plus his Rasputin-like hold upon a large part of the American psyche, is alarming.

Well, the vaccines are being administered, and within a few months the resulting immunity will blunt the virus's harms.  And Joe Biden will become President January 21 regardless of what Trump and his cult minions do.  So, we can take heart society will soon stop unraveling and begin again to knit itself back together again.

However, as we're all not just apprehensive about these key areas, as well as how the economy and society in general will be rebuilt, we're also plainly exhausted.  It's been provocative to witness reactions to the $600 stimulus, which most of us have already received.  That has been a ho- hum holiday season gift, in part due to fatigue, but perhaps in much larger part because we've been so conditioned to the fearful, the money is generally put in savings against a still threatening, even ruinous, future.  The old saying of disappointment, I want my cake and eat it too, comes to mind.  And certainly saving the $600 isn't as satisfying as spending it.

With this preamble in mind, let's take a quick look at the key planetary dispositions that will be with us during the next several months.

First, and perhaps most important, is the December 21 Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, which not only signals a new double-decade era beginning, but also has a defining impact upon current and upcoming planetary karmas.

Here's a current chart using the natural zodiac beginning with Aries as the first house and thereby describing global karmas.  You can easily see that faster-moving Jupiter has passed Saturn, which is good, although they remain close.  The issue here is that expansive and fortunate Jupiter is weakest in its fallen sign of Capricorn, where he is afflicted by contractive and unfortunate Saturn very strong in this sign it rules (owns).  This is naturally bad for Jupiter's wealth, wisdom, judgment, optimism, growth and luck.  The economy is an obvious target for this negative karma.  The October 25, 2020 Pins and Needles first addressed this issue and published the below chart for the conjunction.

Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction
December 21, 2020 at 10:56 AM in Washington DC

That forecast stated,

Just considering Jupiter and Saturn, we can see the tone of this chart. Jupiter (wealth) is weakly fallen in Capricorn with Saturn (poverty) strong in its own sign.  This indicates economic loss, the inevitable consequences of Trump's profligate ways -- tax cuts, deficits and policies helping the rich by beating down the middle class and poor. It's a karmic reckoning.

The good news is threefold.

First, Jupiter will escape into Aquarius, which where it is free of affliction, April 5.  So, we only have to slog through less than four months of grief.  Well, after nearly a year of the virus and four years of Trump, we've toughened up enough to do that!  And as noted, by then the vaccines will have begun to thwart the virus and Trump will be long gone from the White House, perhaps even heading for the Big House.

Second, advances in research, especially aeronautics and medicine pave the way for wholesale changes in the economy and our society in general.  (That's The 18 year Rahu planetary cycle in the U.S chart bringing Second Progressive Age stuff, just as during the First Progressive Age the Wright Brothers flew and within just a few years the sky was full of airplanes.)  Recall the amazing progress in space exploration recently and also that the vaccines were developed in record time using a totally new technique. Broaden research to anticipate amazing benefits from tremendous progress in other areas -- like electrification of transportation and manufacturing, pollution, global warming. race relations, equitable distribution of income and wealth...

Third, the suffering we've been experiencing is becoming intolerable and will certainly move further in that direction by spring.  That can only further advance pressure for a return to shared democratic values in both the public and private sectors.  Amazing as it is that 350,000 have died from the virus in the U.S., and the Trump cult still denies it, by April 5 the death toll will have risen so high that this pandemic will no longer be denied than a category 5 hurricane hitting the mainland would be ignored and pooh-poohed.

By springtime, then, hope will begin to force out dread, and society and begin again to enrich humanity.

There will be a couple of tough notably tough times this winter, which should be pointed out here.  See in the above chart that the Sun, Mercury and Venus (always close to each other) are approaching Saturn, the great malefic in Capricorn.

Mercury transits Capricorn first January 5 to January 25
Because of an upcoming retrograde, Mercury dips back into Capricorn February 4 to March 11
The Sun follows in Capricorn from January 14 to February 12
Venus is last from January 28 to February 21

So the rest of January through calendar February be an interval of affliction in many areas.  Notably, as Mercury is the respiratory system, it signals the virus infections, and chronic illness/death Saturn will certainly aggravate that.  This fits with medical science predicting virus increases this winter.

The other tough time this winter will come with warrior Mars approaching and conjoining Rahu.  Again, look at the above chart to see Mars was getting close to enter Aries December 21 -- just one sign before Taurus, where Rahu lurks.  As Mars is infections and Rahu is toxic, we can anticipate this will be another virus surge.  Mars will enter Taurus February 21 and get close enough to Rahu for these two vicious malefics to drive the virus by mid March.  They will conjoin March 26.  So the peak here will be mid March to near the end of the month.

Repeating these sensitive intervals for the virus:

Mercury/Sun/Venus from January 5 to the end of February
Mars/Rahu mid March to the end of the month

Yes, setting aside the $600 stimulus as security for a challenging winter is simply sensible.  And again, springtime in April can see the Virus and Trumpism driven from our shores.

Kaboom

The (above) January 3 Trepidation touched briefly on the immediate future,

...(the) year-end 2020 entry did not offer predictions on upcoming trends and events -- notably fundamentals about society of the virus and the U.S. presidential succession.

Still, there was the gigantic kaboom on Wednesday when the Trumpies invaded the U.S. Capital complex and overwhelmed the police.  I didn't see that coming in the global transit chart, nor in the U.S. chart -- or even Trump's chart.

I could see Trump's Dasas (planetary cycles) are very rough until the middle of March.  But that alone wouldn't have caused this disaster for America, and also for Trump.  We can get a hint from the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction, for Trump's Maha (main) Dasa planet is Jupiter, which in transit is both weak and swallowed up by Saturn.  So Jupiter, the great benefic, is dead in the water.  And Capricorn for Trump is the sixth house of enemies and competitors.  He naturally loses battles -- both the Georgia U.S. senate elections and his followers invading the Capital.  Also, the January 3 Trepidation entry discussed how the three inner planets pass through Capricorn beginning January 5, where they are afflicted by Saturn.  Again this is very negative for Trump in being his sixth house of enemies and competitors.  Notice the Mercury transit through Capricorn began January 5.

...the Sun, Mercury and Venus (always close to each other) are approaching Saturn, the great malefic in Capricorn.

Mercury transits Capricorn first January 5 to January 25
Because of an upcoming retrograde, Mercury dips back into Capricorn February 4 to March 11
The Sun follows in Capricorn from January 14 to February 12
Venus is last from January 28 to February 21

The major karma hitting Trump, however, which stimulated the riots and now thereby his being thrown out of office, is the December 14 total solar eclipse which nailed Trump's Moon (home) and Sun (career).  The November 28 Eclipse Season explained,

...the December 14 total solar eclipse at 29 degrees Scorpio (28:59 precisely) hits Trump's chart doubly.  As shown in Trump's below Vedic chart, the eclipse hits his 28:05 Scorpio Moon within a degree and also the opposite Sun at 29:49 Taurus, again within a degree.  Remember, any less than two degrees is a bullseye.

Again, as the Moon is the home, and Trump's Moon is in the fourth house of the home, the eclipse indicates he loses his home -- the White House.  With the Moon being the perceptional mind and the emotions, the eclipse will stimulate crazed behavior.  As the Sun is his self (huge ego but no soul) and career planet, the eclipse knocks that out too.

Because eclipse effects last up to six months, and we're less than a month from the solar eclipse date, this is heavyweight karmatipped Trump over.  While the career harm is obvious, Trump losing his home is even more striking.  Trump left the White House Thursday but didn't go to his beloved Mara Lago because he's embarrassed to be there as a loser.  He can't go to Trump Tower in NY because he's so disliked there.  He can't even visit his golf resorts in Scotland because of the virus lockdown -- Scotland's leader says Trump isn't welcome to visit his Turnberry resort because golfing isn't essential travel.  So Trump slunk off to Camp David -- like a lone wolf in the forest.  And he doesn't even like it!  While Trump’s predecessors frequented the retreat in the Maryland mountains, the 45th president has vocally disdained it, once telling a reporter its rustic charms would wear off in about half an hour.  The man of many opulent mansions now hides away in a presidential retreat he disdains.

The career harms will only get worse as the Sun (career) and Venus (ruler of his tenth house of career) begin passing through Capricorn, as shown above, January 14 and January 28.

A final planetary karma that has not yet been discussed is the U.S. chart's Dasas, which changed January 5.  Here they are to two levels, the second modifying the first, since the eighteen year Rahu Dasa began -- which destroys today to create tomorrow,

Rahu/Rahu begins the Dasa, during which the energies are just coming in.

Rahu/Jupiter is the Dasa's first full strength combination.  As Jupiter is wealth, this has been good for the economy, but Rahu degrades Jupiter's higher mind, resulting in conflict.  Well that's certainly happened!

Now this past Tuesday, the Saturn sub period begins.  This is a very difficult combination as it results in pushing ahead relentlessly and victimizing.  It is particularly negative for wealth.  And, as Saturn is reality, we must expect this next two and a half years will see a karma reckoning of the Trump administrations excesses.

Don't spend any money.

The Mississippi's Changing Path

The mighty Mississippi is the cardiac system of the country. Its channels are literally America's heartland.

And this map of the lower Mississippi shows its course changing over time.

This article, Growing concern about Mississippi River course Change, explains the river's shifting course to the Gulf of Mexico (emphasis added),

The Mississippi River has changed course to the Gulf every thousand years or so for about the last 10,000 years.  Gravity finds a shorter, steeper path to the Gulf when sediments deposited by the river make the old path higher and flatter.  It’s ready to change course again.  It wants to take a short cut at the Old River Control Complex down the Atchafalaya River to the Gulf at Morgan City, Louisiana.  It’s 193 miles shorter and steeper and faster than going by New Orleans.

Gravity makes water flow downhill. The higher the hill, the greater the “head” or force driving the flow.  Floods on the Mississippi raise the water level inside the levees and increase this force. Floods are becoming more frequent, longer, and higher — even though average annual rainfall in the Mississippi drainage basin has been almost flat since 1940....

So, the head or force to drive a course change is increasing.  Hence, the odds of a course change are too.  Ironically, this is due in large part to work by the US Army Corps of Engineers, which is supposed to control floods.  And by the Corps operation of the Old River Control Complex (just above Baton Rouge), where it restricts the Mississippi’s flow into the Atchafalaya to 23% of its volume.  This restriction, together with work by the Corps to shorten and straighten the river and speed its flow, has caused it to rise. And to flood more.

This map shows the next upcoming river course change.

This is a tremendous analogy for what is happening now in American society.  We know America is changing its course. The escalating floods pushing to change the Mississippi River's course, is mirrored in the similarly surging floods -- social, economic and political -- that have been sweeping the country, forcing a course change.  Certainly too the river's changing course because sediment build up has flattened the existing course is another piece of this.  It's not difficult to see this as the Republicans clinging to the past and stopping up progress -- like those sediments.

We have, of course, Trumpism, which, by destroying today to create a new tomorrow.  The Celestial Wheel has long stated that is Trump's role, and then he blows himself up.  The February 3, 2017 Hollow Man explained (emphasis added),

...the day Trump was born, a total eclipse of the Moon occurred.  A lunar eclipse is exact when the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun -- and this one was exact at 12:30 PM, a mere half hour after birth.  So, this eclipse hit the birth chart, and the resulting life, hard.  In fact, the eclipse was already underway when Trump began this incarnation. While a lunar eclipse naturally blocks the Moon, is also impacts the Sun.  The solar ego is both large and compromised.  (but) As eclipses are shadows, the life is shadowed.

Thereby, the entire life is eclipsed -- blocked -- in some way, and despite great power, intellect and wealth, Trump is knocked down -- thrown out -- periodically...

Another factor in Trump being a hollow man is that his great but compromised Sun sits in the tenth house of career -- the future, the outer world and self.  But his tremendously afflicted perceptional Moon is in his fourth house of the emotions -- the past and ones deepest feelings and beliefs.  The tenth house, then, is the ego and the fourth house the soul.  Primary among the Moon's hardships is being close to Ketu, the dissolving tail-of-the-dragon eclipse point.  This makes Trump live by his emotions, but blocks perception of the soul, if not the soul itself.

Thus, Trump has a huge, even overwhelming, ego -- outer shell -- which he protects at all costs - but no soul.  He lacks internal strength -- no emotional foundation, no belief in himself, no confidence -- when confronted with enemies or criticism.  He is the hollow man -- appearing strong but actually weak, like an egg shell with nothing inside.

And, of course, Trump sending his thugs to invade and take over the Capital last week is certainly a great flood by itself that further pressurizes course change in the American heartland.

Another flood is the virus, which adds its pressure to the already overwhelming karma for society's course change from selfish Second Gilded Age to unselfish Second Progressive Age.  The informed media and educated folks of all stripes have correctly identified the virus as accelerating change that is already underway.  Consider just the stimulus payments -- two already and another one coming -- which reverse the course of enriching the rich further and diverting government resources to uplift the poor.  Yes, that's the horrible socialism, even communism, the Republicans beat their breasts about to spread fear and further cement their hold on power -- social, economic and political.

With the Prince Trump gold cruise ship sinking, and the drowning rats below fleeing, the American course change is already happening and certainly must advance further.  The coming economic debacle eliciting from the Trump cruise of terror, the reopened wound of racism bleeding and the virus combine a irresistible forces to cut a whole new channel for America.

The (above) January 3 Trepidation detailed tough transits this winter,

...the Sun, Mercury and Venus (always close to each other) are approaching Saturn, the great malefic in Capricorn.

Mercury transits Capricorn first January 5 to January 25
Because of an upcoming retrograde, Mercury dips back into Capricorn February 4 to March 11
The Sun follows in Capricorn from January 14 to February 12
Venus is last from January 28 to February 21

So the rest of January through calendar February be an interval of affliction in many areas.   Notably, as Mercury is the respiratory system, it signals the virus infections, and chronic illness/death Saturn will certainly aggravate that.  This fits with medical science predicting virus increases this winter.

The other tough time this winter will come with warrior Mars approaching and conjoining Rahu. ...As Mars is infections and Rahu is toxic, we can anticipate this will be another virus surge.

As you can easily see in the below chart for yesterday, January 15, nervous system Mercury is now in Capricorn -- having transited into that sign January 5.  On January 6 Trump's thugs invaded the Capital.  You can also see the leadership Sun is similarly in Capricorn.  He transited into that sign January 14.  The House of Representatives impeached Trump just one day earlier, January 14.  Of course too, since Mercury is the respiratory system and Sun the body, the virus rages more and more.

Finally here, infectious Mars conjoining toxic Rahu beginning mid March fits with predictions by health officials that the virus variant from England will be hitting really hard during that interval.

Global Transits January 15, 2021

So again, the historically powerful floods of Trumpism and the virus continue to force the U.S. to change its course.

(the above) January 8 Kaboom explained The U.S. Dasas (planetary cycles) changed January 5 from Rahu/Jupiter to Rahu/Saturn, and Saturn is reality.  Thus, the unreality of Trump is unveiled, rejected and the reality of his damage to America unfolds -- with hopefully wise response from truth seekers to build anew.

The Gauntlet

The Gauntlet title takes us back to the September 6 2008 The Gauntlet's End when the term was applied to that horrendous summer ($4.11 gasoline...) culminating in the September stock market crash, the entire economy falling apart and Barack Obama elected president two months later.  The gauntlet then was the ...the transits of of fast-moving Venus, Mercury and the Sun crossing over malefic planets Ketu and Saturn.

This winter, and nearly thirteen years later, we've again been experiencing a Venus, Mercury, Sun gauntlet over Saturn -- the virus, racial protests and a nasty presidential election -- all three of which have been, and still are, tearing the country apart.

There's always more going on with the planets, since there are nine, but this transit-trio over Saturn is notably tough and can precipitate major events -- like it did in the economic collapse in 2008.  This grouping of the fast inner planets over destructive Saturn brings a lot of heavy planetary karma in a very short time.

Recall this topic was recently addressed in the (above) January 3 Trepidation,

There will be a couple of tough notably tough times this winter, which should be pointed out here. See in the above chart that the Sun, Mercury and Venus (always close to each other) are approaching Saturn, the great malefic in Capricorn.

Mercury transits Capricorn first January 5 to January 25
Because of an upcoming retrograde, Mercury dips back into Capricorn February 4 to March 11
The Sun follows in Capricorn from January 14 to February 12
Venus is last from January 28 to February 2

Notice the above quote then lists the movements of each of these three planets. You can see in the below chart for today that:

Mercury is almost out of Capricorn and will retrograde back into that sign February 4.  Following that will see another virus surge for Mercury being the respiratory system.  It also portends very challenging communications.  Don't expect the Biden administration will easily advance its agenda with Congress.  As for Trump, he'll lose more friends and suffer confusion in his goals.

The Sun is one third the way through Capricorn now and has passed Saturn, the planet of loss.  As the planet of kingship, the U.S. government has been lost and as Trump's career planet, his public standing is crushed.  It would seem the Sun's remaining three weeks in Capricorn will see government in continued turmoil and Trump suffering more career defeats.

Venus, the planet of love, grace and happiness, and the last in the gauntlet, will enter Capricorn in just a few days, where all these significations will be harmed.  Venus is a career planet for Trump -- so there's more negative karma coming his way.  Venus is the U.S. chart's planet of friends, goals and groups.  Watch these damaged, but perhaps then enabled to reform.  Venus is also debts in that chart, suggesting the Federal Government will spend more on virus and economic mitigation, which naturally increases the nation's debt.

Transiting Planets January 24, 2021

So, stay tuned and stay alert.  There's simply a lot of karma coming down the pike, and expect the ongoing transformation of America will ultimately be served in a positive way. Only through turmoil comes change.

Mercury Turns Retrograde Tomorrow

The last few Celestial Wheel entries have focused on the karmically potent trio-transits of the inner planets -- Mercury, Venus and Sun -- through Capricorn.

Please understand, it's not that other planets aren't important now but rather that these three, containing a third of the nine planets in the Vedic system, are the current driving force in planetary karmas as they encounter Saturn, the great malefic -- very powerful for losses and harms in his own house of Capricorn.   As stated previously, This grouping of the fast inner planets over destructive Saturn brings a lot of heavy planetary karma in a very short time. In other words, they are where the action is.

To begin, here again is the listing for this transit-trio, as first published in the (above) January 3 Trepidation, with commentary on their progress in succeeding entries.

...the Sun, Mercury and Venus (always close to each other) are approaching Saturn, the great malefic in Capricorn.

Mercury transits Capricorn first January 5 to January 25
Because of an upcoming retrograde, Mercury dips back into Capricorn February 4 to March 11
The Sun follows in Capricorn from January 14 to February 12
Venus is last from January 28 to February 2

You can easily see in the below transit chart for tomorrow, a lot of movement into Capricorn has already occurred. (Jupiter, of course, remains there but weak in his fallen sign and closely afflicted by Saturn, he can't do really much good at all.) The Sun went into Capricorn January 14, Venus January 28 and Mercury January 5 to January 25.

The listing indicates Mercury has a retrograde this winter -- January 30 to February 21.  You can see it's already passed through Capricorn into early Aquarius and the retrograde will take Mercury back into Capricorn February 5 to March 11.

Transits January 30, 2021

Then, there will be a huge stellium of five planets in Capricorn -- all held back and being punished by this too-strong Saturn. That clash of planetary energies will continue at full force until February 12, when the Sun escapes into Aquarius.

The (above) January 24 The Gauntlet addressed those impacts upon these three inner planets.  Refresh your memory on these as you wish.

The purpose of this entry is to update you of the changes happening in this Capricorn Collision.  A bottom line, of course, is that Mercury retrograde's weakness results in all kinds of communications issues, as well as increasing virus infections.  While a lot is going on with the virus and politics -- especially Trump -- don't expect soon a static situation, or even one in which changes are ongoing but stable.  Instability and turmoil are the bywords here.  So don't make too much of the headlines, for they will surely change in the next day or few days as Saturn brings his reality karma onto the inner planets.

In closing, here's something lighter and intriguing -- from today's Washington Post It’s not just the pandemic. The moon may be messing with your sleep, too.

A paper published this week in the journal Science Advances found that people tend to have a harder time sleeping in the days leading up to a full moon.  Researchers reported that sleep patterns among the study’s 98 participants appeared to fluctuate over the course of the 29½ -day lunar cycle, with the latest bedtimes and least amount of rest occurring on nights three to five days before the moon reaches its brightest phase.  They found a similar pattern in sleep data from another group of more than 460 people.  Ahead of the full moon, it took people, on average, 30 minutes longer to fall asleep and they slept for 50 minutes less,...

Well, gee, soon there could be studies that find Vedic Astrology actually works!  Failing that, the article does confirm why the Moon is the primary planet in Vedic Astrology -- not just for its positioning in the heavens but also her light and perhaps a little, her gravity.
